Our exclusive Marketing and Communications Program provides interns with experience in the following areas: Experiential Marketing, Media Relations, Content Marketing, Advertising, Email Marketing, Social Media, Community Relations, and Influencer Marketing. Seafair recognizes the important part an internship plays in a student’s professional growth; our goal is to help develop the necessary skills for those who wish to excel in the marketing and advertising industry. Successful interns will get firsthand experience in real-life situations, both the glamorous and mundane.
Position Description:
Seafair is seeking interns to support the Marketing & Communications team in all marketing, advertising, promotional, and relationship-building aspects. The ideal candidate will be organized, outgoing, and a friendly ambitious person, with a passion for live events, entertainment, and community-based work. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the development and execution of marketing strategies that deeply engage and connect with the Pacific Northwest community
- Help build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between journalists and public relations professionals
- Support the creation and distribution of valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain new audiences
- Help promote Seafair events and programs through paid channels: online and offline
- Help inform and educate the community on the Seafair events and programs through email blasts and newsletters
- Support the promotion of Seafair using the internet and other forms of digital communication
- Help increase community advocacy and support for Seafair throughout the Pacific Northwest
- Support the recruitment of external content creators, or influencers, to help Seafair engage a broader audience
Qualifications:
- Desire to pursue a career in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Strong project management skills and meticulous
- Excellent research, writing, and communications skills
- Ability to write media releases and media alerts
- Experience and knowledge of social media platforms
- Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and self-motivation
- Strong knowledge of various marketing and analytics tools
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Available 10-20 hours per week from June to August, not including event days
- Ability to attend all Seafair Signature Events
