Our exclusive program includes internships with a focus in the following areas: Operations & Production, Sales & Hospitality, Communication & Marketing, Finance, and Foundation Management. Recognizing the important part an internship plays in a student’s professional growth, our goal is to help develop the necessary skills for those who wish to excel in the event industry. Successful interns will get hands-on experience in real-life non-profit festival situations, both the glamorous and mundane.

Most importantly, our interns will be an integral part of the team that runs some of the largest festivals in the Northwest. Seafair has been delighting the city of Seattle for over 71 years - come and be a part of Creating Memories and Uniting Communities.

Seafair is seeking three (3) interns to support the Communications & Marketing team in all marketing, media, promotional, and community relations aspects of the festival. The ideal candidate will be organized, outgoing, and a friendly go-getter, with a passion for events, entertainment and the beautiful city of Seattle.Though each Marketing intern will work on a variety of projects individually and as a team, one intern’s focus will be on writing and social media, one will be on design (knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop required), and one will act as a go-between helping the others as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching, writing, editing and proofreading
  • Maintaining and contributing to Content Calendar for press releases, eNewsletters and more
  • Social media writing, tracking and planning
  • Compiling and managing publicity and photo archives
  • Assembling press kits
  • Assistance in planning and execution of press conferences and events
  • Other office and event duties as assigned


  • Minimum of two to three years completed on a degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field
  • Understanding of what Seafair is and why it exists
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent research, writing and communications skills, including the ability to write press releases and media alerts
  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Must perform in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a positive attitude and ability to represent the organization both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated creativity, initiative and self-motivation
  • Public speaking skills preferred
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

June – August – 40+hrs per week***

***Summer interns are required to work all Seafair Signature events, including:

Seafair Pirates Landing

Seafair Summer Fourth

Lucerne Seafair Milk Carton Derby presented by Safeway / Albertsons

Seafair Triathlon (expo and event)

Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade & Torchlight Run

Seafair Fleet Week

Seafair Weekend Festival featuring Home Steet Cup Hydroplane Racing and Boeing Airshow
